CSO Chorus

The Canberra Symphony Orchestra seeks experienced choristers (all voice parts) to perform with the CSO Chorus for the upcoming CSO Special: St John Passion on 30 June at Llewellyn Hall, conducted by Elizabeth Scott. Renowned chorus master Tobias Cole will lead the choir rehearsals for this event.

Participation is voluntary and successful applicants will be required to attend all rehearsals (outlined in the information pack below).

 

Audition information

Auditions will be held on Saturday 13 May (9am – 12 noon) at the ANU School of Music, in Lecture Theatre 1 (Level Five). Applicants will be allocated a 10-minute audition slot.
 

How to apply

To apply to audition, email Donna Parkes via donna.parkes@cso.org.au with the following:

  • Specify your voice part (soprano, alto, tenor or bass).
  • Briefly outline your performance experience (up to 100 words).

 

Excerpts

Please prepare your own vocal part (soprano, alto, tenor or bass) for both audition excerpts in English or German. The excerpts are included in the downloadable information pack below.

  • Excerpt #1: Chorale: ‘O wondrous love’ (complete)
  • Excerpt #2: Chorus: ‘Let us rend not nor divide’ (up to bar 25).

 

Assessment criteria

The panel will assess you on quality of tone, sense of style, accuracy and presence.
