CSO Tax Appeal

The Canberra Symphony Orchestra is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. Your tax-deductible donations support the CSO’s mainstage, community and education activities.

We believe that the best way to enrich lives through music is by putting our very best on stage, each and every time. So far this year we’ve done that in many different ways.

We’ve worked hard to grow new audiences for the Australian Series concerts at the National Portrait Gallery, and the Recital Series has a new home at University House. We believe that these initiatives are vital for the orchestra’s sustainability. In our opinion, they’re also terrific musical experiences.

We’re also looking to improve constantly, achieve on-stage excellence and showcase our best and brightest. This is why we’ve created new developmental opportunities for CSO musicians through a deeper collaboration with ANU’s School of Music, and a one-off chamber music performance by selected CSO Principals in August.

From what you tell us through our surveys, it’s the big concerts in Llewellyn Hall that leave vivid memories in your hearts. Unseen by many, though, is the work we do in the community. With generous support from donors, the ACT Government and corporate partners, we are able to move off the mainstage and into the community with innovative outreach performances and inspirational education concerts.

These programs come at a cost, however, and wouldn’t be possible if not for superb performances from the stage. Ultimately, only a consistently-full Llewellyn Hall at CSO concerts will enable the orchestra to impact communities in a meaningful way in the future. A full house, every time. For this we must strive.

It is your advocacy, your donations and your continued subscriptions make possible new musical partnerships and technically-demanding performance opportunities. More shared experiences for our part-time, professional orchestra will result in artistic cohesion that is palpable, and stronger performances, more often.

The CSO’s on-stage success depends upon continued government funding, and our own fundraising activities. They are a vital source of income, so we urge you to give generously to this year’s end of financial year campaign.

We are truly fortunate to count such a faithful and knowledgeable group of music lovers as CSO family and we are humbled by your ongoing support. Nothing is taken for granted.
