Music by the River: The Rocket Man
The Canberra Symphony Orchestra returns to the banks of the Queanbeyan River with conductor George Ellis for an evening of live music under the stars. This year’s event features The Rocket Man – Darren Percival & Band – performing Elton John’s greatest hits alongside musicians of the CSO.

Free seating (general admission) is available anywhere in the park (excluding the allocated amphitheatre seating) or on the grass banks on both sides of the river. Please register to assist with event planning and bring a picnic rug or lowered seat to sit on.
Allocated seating within the Queen Elizabeth II Park’s amphitheatre is seated as a first in basis so get in early to get your favoured space. Please bring a cushion or a picnic rug to sit on.
This area is not suitable for people with:
- wheelchairs or walkers – an area will be reserved for people in wheelchairs on a first come, first served basis. Those wanting to locate this area should approach a friendly QPRC employee for assistance.
- Prams or pushers – there will also be space allocated for pram parking. Prams can be parked in this location so they don’t obstruct others view of the stage.
- Large coolers or picnic blankets – best to grab a spot on the lawn for large groups.
