Our very own CEO, Sarah Kimball, will be the guest speaker at the annual Winter Tales hosted by the Australian Women’s Archive Project on Sunday 29 July.
Sarah arrived in Canberra the week of the 1989 self-government referendum and almost counts herself as a local by now. The evolution of the city, as that of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, is a living lesson in vision, determination and commitment.
Like Canberra itself, the CSO is a complex organisation that works with specific, sometimes arcane requirements that straddle centuries and require the highest level of expertise. Sarah will share behind-the-scenes insights into planning artistic seasons, what it takes to stage an orchestral concert, and some of the unique, fascinating skills which different musicians bring to their instrument and music.
Winter Tales is an annual series of relaxed Sunday afternoon talks by a woman of note, followed by an excellent afternoon tea. It’s a fundraiser for the Australian Women’s Archives Project which was established in 2000 to build knowledge and recognition of the contribution made by women to Australia.
