Monster kitchen and bar
The Monster kitchen is headed by Sean McConnell and his love of the local and the seasonal. The modern Australian menu of share dishes is influenced by McConnell’s travels and love of gardening.
The kitchen menu charts the seasons and finds its produce from local farmers and growers – reducing food miles and supporting local producers. Oysters from Batemans Bay, vegetables from Canberra’s Choku Bai Jo, truffles from Sutton, honey from the hotel’s own beehives.
Monster kitchen and bar is open from 6.30AM to 1AM every day on the ground floor of Hotel Hotel.
Locally grown produce is celebrated at Bicicletta restaurant, and here you will experience authentic Italian food at its best. Guests can also enjoy a carefully curated wine list that features both Australian and Italian drops.
Located at Peppers Gallery Hotel, Bicicletta is open 7 days a week for restaurant, courtyard and in-room dining, while the Library Bar is perfect for pre-dinner drinks or a night cap after dinner. This award winning restaurant plates up home-made pizzas, pastas, gelati and great coffee as well as daily specials fresh from the marketplace.
Not another boutique art hotel – Hotel Hotel is an intense collaboration of artists, designers, makers and fantasists.
The hotel sits in the Nishi building, arguably one of Australia’s most sustainable buildings, itself nestled within NewActon – Canberra’s arts and culture precinct. It is lakeside; bush-side and a two-minute walk to the city.
Hotel Hotel has 68 rooms. Half of the rooms’ hardwood timber windows open onto the lake and trees, the other half onto the internal atrium populated with ferns from Tasmanian forests destined for clearance. Each one is unique and has taken inspiration from the Australian shack. Restored twentieth century furnishings, objects and original artworks collected over ten years inform each room.
