Thank you.
Canberra Symphony Orchestra (CSO) musicians create transformative experiences in aged care settings for those who would not otherwise have access to live music. These programs include a variety of music curated specifically to most benefit these audiences, evoking memories, providing comfort and bringing delight to our community members in care.
These performances are as beneficial as they are enjoyable, particularly for those living in memory care or experiencing health challenges. Research shows engaging in music improves social connections, alleviates stress, enhances mood and increases cognitive functions, providing a positive shift in overall wellbeing. Sharing the gift of music with all members of our community is pivotal to the CSO as we form powerful connections through live music. We are privileged to serve these audiences, enriching the quality of life for residents in care across Canberra.
"The introduction of the monthly CSO performances has had great support and is thoroughly enjoyed by our residents. We are now offering them the experience to enjoy the music from these fine musicians without leaving home and it makes it inclusive for everyone who lives here. Not only do our residents enjoy the music but they also get to interact with the musicians asking them questions and hearing their stories. The power of music, especially in aged care, is one of the most valuable and powerful tools we have." Beverly Webb, Goodwin Aged Care
