A performance enrichment program for enthusiastic string players aged 12-19.
The Canberra Symphony Youth Chamber Orchestra (CSYCO) is a unique opportunity for advanced young string players to rehearse and perform alongside CSO Concertmaster Kirsten Williams.
Unlike a larger youth orchestra, CSYCO is an unconducted ensemble for 15 to 20 musicians. All participants receive specialised training and mentorship in solo, chamber and orchestral playing, musicianship, and building professional skills. CSYCO welcomes musicians aspiring to professional performance as well as advanced players pursuing other career paths.
For any questions on the program or auditions, please reach out to Donna Parkes at kingsland.program@cso.org.au.
CSYCO is an extension program designed to build on existing learning – students already participating in school and community-based ensemble/orchestral programs are expected to continue in these programs and to have a private instrumental teacher. There is no requirement to study with a specific teacher to be a member of CSYCO.
Delivered in collaboration with the Australian National University as part of a shared, long-term commitment to artistic excellence in the nation’s capital.
