Lucy Carrigy-Ryan enjoys an active freelance career comprising orchestral, solo and chamber music activities.

She studied music, Spanish and law at the Australian National University before joining the Canberra Symphony Orchestra (CSO) in 2010.

In 2013, Lucy took up a scholarship at the Emilio Balcarce Tango Orchestra school in Argentina. The following year, she moved to Europe and studied with Maestro Bruno Giuranna at the Stauffer Academy in Italy and the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Switzerland, graduating with a Master of Viola Performance with high distinction.

Lucy has worked with symphony orchestras around Australia and performed as a soloist with the National Capital Orchestra and Musica da Camera, and with violinist Barbara Gilby and Canberra Sinfonia. She performs frequently with the Canberra Strings and other chamber music ensembles.

Lucy enjoys sharing music with the community, including through the CSO’s collaboration with the Tingey Painting with Parkinsons program.
