The professional orchestra of the nation’s capital, the Canberra Symphony Orchestra engages and enriches a broad audience through artistically vibrant musical experiences.
Led by Jessica Cottis, Chief Conductor and Artistic Director, the Canberra Symphony Orchestra (CSO) strives to present innovative, courageous programs that spark curiosity and conversations. Australian music occupies a central place in CSO programming, in the nationally unique Australian Series and on the Llewellyn Hall mainstage.
Beyond the concert hall, CSO community engagement delivers positive outcomes for the region in health and wellbeing, education, innovation and social cohesion. Highlights include the Rediscovering Music program for people with hearing loss and the CSO’s longstanding collaboration with the Painting with Parkinson’s art therapy initiative. The CSO also distributes concert tickets to a range of local charities and community organisations through its HeartStrings fund.
The CSO is a leading provider of professional musical services for the Canberra region, and generates vital pathways for emerging artists through the Kingsland Pathways Program.
