Jacqueline Porter holds an honours degree in Music Performance and a Bachelor of Arts (Italian) from The University of Melbourne, and was a recipient of the 2010 Dame Nellie Melba Opera Trust Scholarship. Equally at home on the operatic stage and concert platform, Jacqueline appears regularly with Australia’s major symphony orchestras, choral societies and chamber ensembles, and has worked with celebrated conductors Sir Neville Marriner, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Sir Andrew Davis.
Performance highlights include Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 (Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney Symphony Orchestras); Britten’s Les Illuminations (Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra); Mozart’s Requiem and Exultate Jubilate, Faure’s Requiem and Rachmaninoff’s Vocalise (Melbourne Symphony Orchestra); Handel’s Messiah (Royal Melbourne Philharmonic; Melbourne, Sydney and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras); St. Matthew Passion (Melbourne Bach Choir); and Prokofiev’s The Ugly Ducking and Grieg’s Peer Gynt (Sydney Symphony Orchestra). Jacqueline recently toured with the Australian Haydn Ensemble, performing at the Canberra International Chamber Music Festival.
Operatic roles include Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), Despina (Così fan tutte), Drusilla (L’Incoronazione di Poppea); L’Amour (Orpheé et Eurydice); Saskia and Hendrickje Stoffels (Rembrandt’s Wife); Clorinda (Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda) for Victorian Opera and Gretel (Hansel and Gretel) for State Opera South Australia.
