2026 Kingsland Fellow

Malaysian-born pianist You Li began her musical training at the age of six and entered the Yamaha Junior Special Advanced Course at nine under the guidance of Lim Jit San. She later continued her piano studies, further refining her technical and artistic development, with Shuenda Wong and Aimo Pagin.

You Li has performed nationally and internationally, winning top prizes in a range of piano competitions and appearing in venues throughout Malaysia, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States, including the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. You Li has also participated in music programs and masterclasses across Europe and Asia, working with renowned pianists such as Lilya Zilberstein, Murray McLachlan, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Stanislav Ioudenitch and Dang Thai Son.

In addition to performing, she composes, and in 2019 works of hers were selected for performance at the Yamaha International Highlight Concert.

In 2025, she moved to Canberra, where she is pursuing a double degree in Music and Applied Data Analytics at the Australian National University while continuing to perform and teach piano. Through the 2026 Kingsland Fellowship, You Li hopes to grow within a supportive artistic community, be challenged by inspiring peers and mentors, and further shape her identity as a performer.
