The Canberra Symphony Orchestra (CSO), in collaboration with its donors and partners, are launching their new Music in MY School program which provides inspiring and meaningful classical music experiences to school students in the ACT and the region. In its inaugural year, selected schools have been invited to participate at no cost to the schools.
Music in MY School is a unique music education program that goes beyond the traditional model of specialising music education and instead brings it into the main classroom as a way to enhance learning and to encourage all teachers to embrace music as a companion in the classroom.
The CSO’s Education Giving Circle has funded a review of existing CSO programs and engaged the support of music education specialist Dr Anita Collins to develop a meaningful, accessible, and curriculum-aligned program that addressed the current needs of teachers, parents, and students.
Local organisation Ginninderry and Riverview Developments are the inaugural CSO Education Partners, whose support will fund the program in Belconnen and the Yass Valley region.
